BIOGRAPHY
Praised for a „voice of extraordinary persuasion and a beautiful warm timbre“ (www.operaclick.com), Irina Bogdanova is establishing herself as an aspiring young singer to watch.
In 2023 Irina has joined the ensemble of the Teatro Regio in Turin, where she debuted in numerous roles, including Berta (Barbiere di Siviglia), Una Sacerdotessa (Aida), The Duchess (Powder her Face) by Thomas Adès, Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Bianca and Lolette (La Rondine) and most recently as Laurie Moss in the Italian premiere of the opera “The Tender Land” by Aaron Copland.
Further engagements brought her to the Kiel Opera and the Festival della Valle d'Itria in Martina Franca (Italy).
She has worked with conductors such as Riccardo Frizza, Michele Gamba, Diego Fasolis, Valentin Uryupin, Francesco Lanzillotta, Alessandro Palumbo and Dmitrij Jurowski.
An accomplished concert and oratorio performer, Irina has been heard as a soloist in works including John Rutter’s „Magnificat“, Schubert’s „Mass No. 5 in A-flat major“, Pergolesi’s „Stabat Mater“ and „Salve Regina in c-Minor“ and Händel’s „Gloria HWV deest“ at a variety of churches and venues in Germany such as the Elbphilharmonie and the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg and internationally across Italy, Poland, Norway, Russia and China. She has also been featured in recordings broadcast by NDR.
Irina Bogdanova graduated from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, where she studied under Prof. Carolyn G. James and completed her masters degree at the Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler" in Berlin under the tuition of Prof. Anna Samuil. As a student at the Accademia di Belcanto „Rodolfo Celletti“ in Martina Franca, she worked with Sherman Lowe, Vivica Genaux and Renata Lamanda.
In addition she has participated in various masterclasses with renowned singers as KS Brigitte Fassbaender, Lisette Oropesa, Saioa Hernandez, Anna Pirozzi and Jennifer Larmore.

Irina has been awarded numerous prizes. She won the second prize at the „Concours International Léopold Bellan“ in Paris, the Grand Prix at the „Triomphe de l’Art Competition“ in Brussels; was awarded the „Giovanni-Turcotti“ special prize at „Valsesia Musica International Competition“ in Varallo; first prize at „Gustav-Mahler-Competition“ in Hamburg; first prize at the „Mozart Competition of the Absalom Foundation“ in Hamburg and the first prize at the “Maritim Musikpreis“ in Timmendorf, Germany.
She is a recipient of scholarships from the „Berenberg Kulturstiftung“, the „Giovanni-Omodeo Foundation“, the „Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now e.V.“, the „Deutschlandstipendium“ and the „Johannes-Brahms-Stiftung Hamburg“.
